Advanced technology – making treatment quicker and easier with improved results.
Advancements in technology make endodontic procedures safer, more efficient, and more precise. Terrigal Endodontics has invested in equipment that offers quicker processing, enhanced visibility and increased patient comfort. Tony Appleton has been fully trained in the use of this advanced endodontic technology and constantly upgrades his training and equipment to provide skilled service with every root canal treatment. Terrigal Endodontics believes in giving our patients every advantage during root canal procedures.
We are a QIP accredited practice and for your safety and the safety of our team members, our practice adheres to the highest standards of infection control advocated by the Australian Dental Association, NSW Health and the Dental Board of Australia. We utilise the latest barrier techniques, ultrasonic and autoclave sterilisation to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art endodontic care, while maintaining a strict infection control protocol.
The Operating Microscope
Microscopes have completely changed the scope and practice of endodontic care by delivering high-level magnification and illumination.
Our success depends on us being able to see the minutest of details – you cannot treat what you cannot see. In addition, we use high definition cameras to record our procedures with great clarity and detail.
Cone Beam CT
We have installed advanced high resolution Cone Beam Computed Tomography. This new technology is being used more and more in appropriately selected cases.
The 3D imaging gives incredible additional information over and above that of conventional x-rays. This provides valuable details for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Digital Dental Radiographs
From pre-operative assessment through to the final fill, root canal therapy generally requires a minimum of three X-rays per tooth.
The use of digital radiographs provides an approximate 50-90% reduction in radiation to our patients compared with traditional dental x-rays and at the same increases our diagnostic capabilities with superb quality images.
Rotary Endodontics
Highly engineered rotary nickel-titanium instruments are more gentle, accurate and conservative of tooth structure than conventional steel files, allowing us the flexibility required for complicated root canal anatomy.
Using these instruments improves the overall comfort of the procedure while conserving the integrity and strength of the tooth.
Electronic Apex Locator
Digital devices called electronic apex locators painlessly and simply measure the exact length of the root canals so that we can ensure that preparation, disinfection and filling of the full length of the root canals can be completed.
The use of electronic apex locators also means that we can often reduce the number of x-rays taken.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Ultrasonic tips are used instead of the drill to locate and gain access to the pulp chamber and root canal system. They give us much finer control and visibility whilst working through the operating microscope.
Ultrasonics help us find and break into hidden canals, remove obstructions and remove gutta-percha improving the success rate of new and retreatments.
